Bringing Clarity to Your Life

Messes be gone! @jessicabuilds and 15evergreen.com discuss the problem with our thoughts

How often do you find yourself saying, "What a mess!" If I were to be totally honest, I think this is probably my most often quoted internal statement. Not "I'm a winner!", "God is good!" or "Jesus is Lord!" but "WHAT A MESS."

I look at the last email campaign (these journal posts are emailed to subscribers, including myself) and upon rereading it I see all the typos, misspellings and grammar mistakes. To be fair, I was about to travel on an airplane and I had a bandaid on my finger from slicing through it with my rotary blade... oh, and I don't think I had my glasses on so I couldn't see the underlined spelling mistakes. In short IT WAS A MESS.

However, when I was contemplating what to journal this morning, I couldn't help but be convicted that if I constantly see my situations worthy of the "WHAT A MESS" statement, I will be constantly stuck in a mess.

Jesus brings clarity to our life by putting it this way:

"“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye." Matt 7:3-5 (NIV)

I want to be able to see clearly and aren't "messes" the opposite of clarity? Perhaps the LOG in our eyes are the messes of our own making. Perspective, as they say, is everything.

Holy Spirit-

Organize my speech Lord! Thank you for convicting me this morning and my thought/speech pattern. I have been speaking mess over my situations for too long. Even in a year where our trails have been one-after-another. You prepared me at the beginning of the year with the words "Rapid Growth & Gifts in Excess." Boy, You weren't kidding! Rapid growth while uncomfortable, does not need to be MESSY. While we undergo growing pains, nothing tears to the point of injury on its own. It is our lack of knowledge and our ignorance on how to move which causes the tear and the "mess". Thank You for giving me the wisdom required today for me to be able to see my growing pains and all the chaos that follows which I once called "messes" as opportunities today. I am ready to grow - I am also ready to receive the Gifts in Excess which You spoke to me which coincide with the Rapid Growth You are working in me.

I love You and THANK YOU for Your outpouring today!

In Jesus' name I pray... AMEN!

-Jessicah
