Does "Being Still" Mean Being Lazy?

(In all honesty... I didn't know what to journal about this morning (what you are about to read totally came Spirit led).

Good morning!

There are so many directions I could journal about this morning! Recently our oldest son got married (in September), I am 20 pounds away from my weightloss goal, I wake up daily at 3 AM for my morning routine, I still can not find my passport, and I have more pattern and ideas for sewing projects than I can physically accomplish. In short - I feel like I am all over the place.

BE STILL AND KNOW

I heard in my spirit as I wrote that last line, "Be still and know that I am God."

BE STILL.

BE STILL.

BE STILL.

Stand still? Don't move?? Be lazy??? This morning's YouVersion Bible scripture was this one: "For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister." The Message version says it this way: "God doesn’t miss anything. He knows perfectly well all the love you’ve shown him by helping needy Christians, and that you keep at it. And now I want each of you to extend that same intensity toward a full-bodied hope, and keep at it till the finish. Don’t drag your feet. Be like those who stay the course with committed faith and then get everything promised to them."

God is not unjust, and He doesn't forget. Pointedly - He is not a man that He COULD forget. Think about that. Every birthday, anniversary, appointment... He does not forget.

BEING STILL DOESN'T MEAN BEING LAZY

Psalm 46:10 "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."

Be still = râphâh; a primitive root; properly, to mend (by stitching), i.e. (figuratively) to cure:—cure, (cause to) heal, physician, repair, thoroughly, make whole.

Did you know that the phrase "be still" in Psalms 46:10 literally means to relax and let the Lord make you whole. It reminds me of that time when Jesus was healing the sick man and asked him... "Will you be made whole?" What was He saying - "Are you willing to relax? Will you let Me do a miraculous work in you? BE STILL... for just ONE minute."

As a mom of seven kiddos, I have made that statement a million times. Boy! How many times have my children fought my request and felt as if I was restricting their movement. However, our Father when He says 'be still' isn't attempting to restrict our movement, He is pulling out a splinter and needs you to STAY STILL.

Well there you go.

Holy Spirit-

As I go about my day today in all it's many directions, handling all the twists and turns - I give you permission to at any point in the day ask me to "BE STILL". Help me to respond accordingly and allow you to pull out the splinters in my life. I know the stiller I get, the less painful the pull and the quicker the movement required from You will be. You do not want us to be in pain - EVER. You are constantly working to get TO US all that we need and desire - the only problem is we never sit still long enough to allow You to make us whole. There you are standing with the tweezers and the sterilized needle and we are TOO busy watching tv, scrolling our phones, playing around, or even running FROM You that we can't see You are standing right infront of us ready and willing to help. Lord, tell me when to STAND STILL. Shout if you have to. Open my ears so I can hear your whisper - if you have to. Whether you speak like a lion or a mouse - SPEAK Holy Spirit, I NEED YOU.
